Senegalese Community in Gambia Donates D10,000 to WCR to fight Covid-19

A community of Senegalese in West Coast region has donated D10,000 to West Coast region to fight against Covid-19.

Speaking at the ceremony Gora Jah, Vice President of Senegalese Community Association, said: they found it fit and important to come on board by contributing the little amount they have towards the sensitisation campaign and raising awareness of people of the region on the Covid-19 pandemic prevention.

Gora Jah stated that the donation made to the office of the governor of West Coast Region was as a result of the good relationship between the two countries and “we as an association are also part of the community and The Gambia at large.”

Bakary K. Sanyang, Governor of West Coast Region, thanked the Senegalese Association and he applauded them for been part of the community. He said since his inception as governor of the region the association has been participating in the development of the region.

He urged the general public to put the words of the president in consideration and stop public gatherings because the disease is deadly and is a very serious issue.

Musa B. Suso, Deputy Governor of West Coast Region, explained that, this donation has described a real commitment between the Gambia and the Republic of Senegal.

“This has really demonstrated that we are not fighting this disease alone, and it shows that Gambia and Senegal are all one family”, He added.

He however called on the Gambian’s currently living in Senegal to follow the footsteps of this association in doing the same thing in Senegal to cement the relationship between these two countries.

Khadijatou Jallow, a member of the Association described the strong relationship existing between the two countries and also the importance of supporting each other as one nation especially in this type of situation.
