Kerr Jarga Jobe Development Foundation Donates food items to fight COVID 19

Kerr Jarga Jobe Development Foundation on Thursday presented 115 bags of rice and vegetable oil to compound heads as part of steps to complement government efforts in the fight against COVID19. The presentation was held in Kerr Jarga Jobe  Jokadou,   North Bank Region.

Alh. Ousman M. Jobe President of Foundation, said food items will support compounds head to stay home during state of emergency and control the spread of virus.

He reiterated that people should pay heed to guidance from World Health Organization guidelines and Ministry of Health by practising regular hand washing and avoid hand shaking.

Meanwhile ,  the members of  the community  has demonstrated interest of supporting regional taskforce on resource mobilization to enable community  better prepare and  respond to the need of families during COVID 19.

The president appeal to Gambian and non-Gambian to come out in numbers to support COVID 19, noting that this is the time to provide humanitarian assistance to families in the form of food items, medicine, hand washing containers and sanitizer and cash to help less privilege in society.

Alh. Jimfatma Jobe retired head chief and chief Matarr Gaye of Jokadou commended the efforts and noted that it would supplement household food security. The duos further noted that the support demonstrated cooperation and understanding among citizens within and the Diaspora to respond to the needs of people’s.

Adama Jimba Jobe, public relation officer (PRO) said a total of D250, 000 was mobilized to respond to national calls of combating deadly COVID 19.

He disclosed that each compound heads will received 1 bag of rice and 10 litres of cooking oil, noting that weekly markets and other source of income were temporal closed, as part of control mechanisms to COVID 19.

Modoulamin Jobe, secretary  Kerr Jarga Jobe Development Foundation noted the donation is part of rapid respond strategy of the foundation to COVID 19 for the people Kerr Jarga in Jokadou.

He thanks members for urgent support and historic donation of food items to family heads.

Governor Ebrima KS Dampha and who double as chairperson of regional taskforce on COVID 19,   underscored government commitment to the fight COVID19, noting  that the support by the foundation would strengthen community capacity to attain households food security.

He pointed out that donation demonstrates efforts in encouraging people’s to stay and control the spread of global pandemic.

Governor Dampha further launched an appeal to citizens of NBR within and in Diaspora to support the regional taskforce in providing much needed support to families.

Aja Gass Lowe lady Councillor for Jokadou and Omar Gaye chairman of VDC both hailed the move and call on people’s to uphold regular hand washing and seek information from health care workers.

Babou Jobe, public relation officer (PRO) Self Help Development Organization of Kerr Jarga also presented 10 containers of hand washing and sanitizer to the community to promote regular hand washing and hygiene.

The support would help to help inhabitants to adopt WHO guidelines and Ministry of Health in  preventing and controlling  the spread of COVID virus.
