Zainab Jallow, Director General of Food Safety and Quality Authority of The Gambia has been ordered to hand over with immediate effect and transferred to the Ministry of Energy as Deputy Permanent Secretary Number three.
Her redeployment came barely a months when she singlehandedly oversee the sacking of almost 30 staff from the authority.
She sacked the 30 staff over a petition signed against her for abuse of office, corruption and bad leadership.
In confirming her sacking, personnel of Personal Management Office (PMO) said Zainab Jallow has been transferred to the Ministry of Energy as DPS 3.
Source revealed that, she handover on Thursday April 2 to Bai Dodou Jallow, who is the director of scientific affairs at Food Safety and Quality Authority.
According to an insider the handing was ‘very, very emotional’.
When Bai Dodou Jallow was contacted by this medium to shed light on the matter, he strongly denied that the former Director Zainab Jallow did handover to him.
“I heard got the news that she has been transferred, but I am not official informed yet. Also, she did not hand over to me”, said Bai Dodou Jallow
Official source name withheld at the Ministry of Energy also confirmed the redeployment of Zainab Jallow as their new DPS3.
For the past four days, Zainab was called on both her Gamcel and Qcell numbers to get her reactions, but we couldn’t get her on phone.
The board chairman of the Authority, Mr Badara Loum resigned recently due to the leadership of Zainab Jallow and also over mass sacking of staff without any consultation with the board members.
