The Chefs Association of The Gambia on Sunday extended humanitarian assistance to frontline team stationed at the border posts in North Bank Region in fight against COVID-19.
The association provide food to the frontline team with the expressed aim of showing concern and support to uplift the welfare of people who continue to sacrifice their lives to protect and control the spread of the virus.
Saikou Bojang, president of the association, underscored the importance of providing food for the frontline teams at the borders which is said it is one way to complement government efforts in the fight against COVID-19.
Mr Bojang, who also doubled as chairperson of West Africa Chef Association, said: “the support would strengthen service delivery at the border line and boost their morale and enhance their nutritional uptake.”
OusmanManneh, secretary general of the association, said the pandemic remains a concern, while he said the food prepared and donated to them has high content of nutrition to boost immune system.
He commended the donors for their support in complementing their efforts in ensuring food is provided.
Ebrima KS Dampha, Governor North Bank Region hailed the association for their foresight in providing food to the frontline workers at the border posts to boost their morale.
Lamin Saidy, Regional Disaster Management Coordinator, said the support would enhance humanitarian respond and boost the fight against COVID-19.
