Sabach Sanjal Development Association has distributed sanitary materials to communities as part of effort to fight against the coronavirus in the country.
The group disclosed that the fight against COVID19 was necessitated to reach out to communities to educate them to adopt WHO guidelines and Ministry of Health to promote regular hand washing with soap, avoid social gathering and hand shaking.
Yusupha Ceesay, the group’s secretary, said: “COVID19 is not a health problem but a threat to socioeconomic development, peace, security and livelihood development and therefore all hands should be on deck to prevent the spread of this deadly virus.”
Chief Malick Bouy of Sabach Sanjal commended the people of the district for establishment of Sabach Sanjal Development Association and noted that it would help to respond to the development needs of people at grassroots level.
He said the materials provided by the association strengthen community capacity to promote hygiene and stressed the need for all communities to ensure people practice hand washing at all times.
Hon. Ousman Touray National Assembly Member for Sabach Sanjal has distributed 17 handwashing containers and detergents along border villages and others communities in Sabach Sanjal.
The distribution was followed by sensitisation and distribution of posters to almost all 56 villages in Sabach Sanjal.
