As the fight against Covid-19 continues, the Gambia appointed Ambassador-at-large, Vincent P Bootes Thursday donated sanitary materials worth over D50,000 (Fifty Thousand Dalasi) to the Gambia Police Force towards the fight against the virulent virus.
The donated materials include hand sanitizers, tissue papers and Dettol among other relevant materials in the fight against covid-19.
Present at the presentation ceremony were Fatima Sillah, assistant to the ambassador-at-large, officers of the GPF among others.
Speaking at the presentation, Saikou Ceesay, Information Officer at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the ambassador through his assistant, Fatima Sillah for the donation.
Mr Ceesay also thanked the Gambia Police Force for their hard work noting that if the country wants to have effective police force it is important to support them to be healthy and virus free.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mamudu Jobe thanked the donor. He disclosed the importance of the items to the police force which he said he cannot express the innermost feeling in jiffy.
According to him to him gift of such is never too small because of its contribution to the force is very vital.
Again, he commended Ambassador Bootes for supporting them in the fight of the global corona virus pandemic while calling on the local Gambian people to as well help the Gambia police Force to enable them to continue performing their duty as outlined in the constitution.
