Indian Community Donates 200bags of food items to GNF

The Gambia Indian Community on Tuesday Donated 200bags of food items to Gambia National Fundraisers in flight of Covid-19 pandemic in The Gambia.

The donated food items include Bag of rice, sugar, spaghetti, oil, Milk and other relevant food items.

Speaking at the Presentation, Ram Moham, Honorary Consul General of India said the donated food items was the second phase of donation which were meant to help the needy in country. He noted that they intend to distribute two thousand bags or more if possible.

According to Honoray Consul General, their only goal is to see that the items reaches the needy and the reason for the publicity is to encourages more people to come forward because it is an essential time for the communities to receive such donations especially in this current situation.

Siham Farage, a philanthropist expressed gratitude to the Indian community for the support they gave as they entrusted them with the items to deliver to the communities. He said they have been going round donating them for the past three weeks now as they already given out to nine hundred and forty families so far in different areas in The Gambia.

Essa Faal, Member of GNF expressed delight to the Indian community for helping Gambians in this difficult time. He said “this is a time when everybody should look into our common humanities and use that as a reason to come together to covert this debilitating disease.”

Mr Faal stated that, the Indian community has set a fantastic example, saying that it is quite impressive with two hundred packages in a start with the aim of reaching two thousand families.

“If only other groups could emulate your efforts, we would reach thousands of needy in this country,” he said.

He disclosed that, they have traveled to urban area and they saw so much poverty and this will be a lifeline to a lot of people with hope that others will emulate the important gesture of the Indian community.
