Ambassador Bootes gives to MoFA

Extending his largesse to the people of The Gambia in amid of the Coronavirus pandemic, one of The Gambia Ambassador-at-large has donated some food items to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad for distribution among the vulnerable employees of the Ministry.

The Ambassador-at-large His Excellency Vincent P Bootes based in Wales, United Kingdom also donated some sanitary items worth some thousands of dalasis to the Gambia Police Force last Thursday, 16th April, which was meant to prevent the spread and contracting the virulent virus.

However, in this latest donation made Wednesday, 22nd April, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad the donated items as presented to the Ministry on his behalf by his Liaison Officer, Fatima Sillah included 25kg bags of rice, 25kg bags of sugar and 5 litres 50 gallons of vegetable oils.

Receiving the donated items on behalf of the Ministry, Ebrima Mboob, Director of European Division thanked Ambassador Vincent Bootes through her Liaison Officer, Ms. Fatima Sillah for the gesture.

With hope, he called on other private individuals to follow suit in term of providing for humanitarian support, while the ambassador’s largesse should be a shining example for others to emulate.

He added that the donation, again, will motivate employees, especially junior ranks while it will certainly contribute towards effective service delivery. He therefore assured the donor that the items would be delivered to the intended beneficiaries.

Presenting the food items to the MoFA, Fatima Sillah, Liaison Officer to the Ambassador-at-large said the items are meant to compliment the Ministry’s efforts and as well to help the employees, especially junior staffs such as cleaners, drivers and securities in this situation of coronavirus pandemic.

She expressed that the Ambassador is very pleased to continue contribute his own quota to support the Gambian government to support The Gambia people in this difficult times.

Saikou Ceesay, Communications Officer at Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad highlighted on the important of the donated food items.

Taking into consideration the present situation coronavirus pandemic, he said in togetherness people can fight Covid-19 and it is only possible when the weak ones are supported and cared for.
