The head-chief of Kombo North District has appealed to Gambians despite their political, ethnic, religious and geographical affiliations to adhere to the Ministry of Health (MoH) and World Health Organization (WHO) advices on global Covid-19 pandemic.
Chief Momodou L.K. Bojang launched this appealed to Gambians and non-Gambians staying in the country on Tuesday during an exclusive interviewed with our reporter at his Sukuta resident.
“It is only by adhering to the advice from both the Ministry of Health, WHO and others that we can avoid contaminating the coronavirus infection; this is why their advice is significant in this current situation,” Chief Bojang said.
He also used this medium to call on his fellow chiefs’ through-out the country to sensitize their communities about the dangers of not adhering to social distancing during this difficult time of the Covid 19.
Chief of all chiefs (paramount) of The Gambia urged people not to describe the pandemic as a fake one but instead they should see it as something real.
Bojang applauded Government for providing half a million dalasi to fight the pandemic, which in his on word said: “Is something to be reckoning with by the citizens and non-citizens residing in the country”.
Kombo North head-chief hailed the Ministry of Health for their timely updating and raising awareness on Gambians about the Covid 19 situation in the country.
Chief Momodou L.K. Bojang urged Gambians to see the pandemic as global calamity, noting that it is necessary to come together as one family in order to contain the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic in the country.
He therefore appealed to the authorities concern and public in general to continue monitoring the movement of people in their areas especially within the border communities.
He finally expressed his appreciation to the politicians, health personnel, CBOs and others in the country for being part of the national crusade which he described as a sign of showing nationalism not partisan politics.
