Fangmanji Kaffo of Badibou Saaba, a community based organisation Wednesday presented some food items to the people of Ceesay Kunda Kabilo, North Bank Region.
The donated food items were bags of rice, sugar and it is in fulfillment of their commitment to support the needs of the people of the community.
The fund used to purchase the donated items were mobilized by members of the Kaffo at home and in Diaspora to compliment the government efforts in the fight against coronavirus pandemic presently spreading across the world.
The presentation held in Saaba Lower Badibou in North Bank Region was attended by Governor of North Bank Region, Chairman of the area council, official of the NDMA, members of the CBO and among others.
Speaking at the presentation, Governor Ebrima KS Dampha also chairman of the Regional Taskforce on Covid-19 expressed delight on the support provided by Fangmanji Kaffo to the community.
Governor Dampha hailed the Kaffo for their foresight noted that the Kaffo is the first CBO in Badibou to provide food to people in this trying moment.
Saikou Suwareh, Chairman of Fangmanji Kaffo underscored the significance the Kaffo attached to helping the ‘kabilo’ to improve their livelihood.
He expressed their readiness to further partner with development partners and Regional Taskforce on Covid-19 to help coordinate support to communities in the region.
He disclosed that the donated food items – 70 bags of rice and 30 bags or sugar worth D132,000 while he further dilated on the past activities undertook by the Kaffo which include electricity.
The Chairman therefore used the event to acknowledge the support received from Engineers Without Borders in Germany for providing garden for women and youths of the communities enable them intensify on their vegetable production for self-reliant. He said the Kaffo also gave scholarships to youths to attend University of Gambia among other assistance to the vulnerable people in their society.
Lamin Saidy Regional Disaster Management Coordinator NBR, Sherifo Mboge, NYC Regional Program Officer, Momodou Suwareh and Njogu Ceesay Public Relation Officer of the Kaffo all lauded the donation.
