In quest to attain good performance and efficiency, the United Nation Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) in collaboration with Kerewan Area Council and Department of Community Development (DCD) implementing €15.2 Million job, skills and finance (JSF) project for women and youths in The Gambia recently presented 8 motorcycles to Community Development Assistants (CDAs) in North Bank Region.
The presented along with the 8 motorcycles were crash helmet, shoes, reflectors and gloves. The presentation was held in Kerewan, North Bank Region.
Ebrima Sawaneh Director of Department of Community Development underscored the importance the Department attached to strengthening human resource to enhance good performance. He disclosed that the local project is to enhance job creations and poverty reduction,
The Director explained that the presentation of the motorcycles is timely as the project has expanded in to other wards and it would also enhance the design and prioritization of community projects.
He therefore challenged CDAs to be steadfast in the sensitisation of communities on COVID-19.
Governor Ebrima KS Dampha noted that motorcycles would complement government efforts in the decentralization process and enhance community driven development process. He said mobility would contribute to foster Regional empowerment and therefore front line extension workers as they are key in providing support in the design and implementation of project.
The Governor thanked the government for providing conducive environment for partners to support in the development process of the country in particular that collaboration and networking is very key in accelerating and sustainable development.
