Ebbeh Gii Youth Association extends largesse to 75 households

Ebbeh Gii Youth Development Association has donated some foodstuffs to seventy-five households that are in of support amid the coronavirus pandemic in Fajukunda.

The gesture was aimed at fighting against the deadly Covid-19 pandemic in the country. The Gambia already reached twenty-cases of the virus with 9 recoveries, 1 death, and 12 under treatment.

Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the group’s president, Modou Loum, said in the past, the association during the month of Ramadan has been preparing iftar every Sunday and take it to the mosque. But this year because of the Covid-19 they came up with this idea together with their members in Diaspora who also contributed as they targeted 75 households.

“Our target was hundred households but we couldn’t meet that target, so we gave out to only seventy-five households and named it the first phase. Everyone in the community needs it, but we targeted the needy ones in the society,” he added.

According to him, the group did assessment of those that are in need of the food aid amid of the pandemic and issued them cards for identification.
Fallo Wadda, a beneficiary, expressed his gratitude and commended the group for the support giving out to them in the spree of the virus outbreak.

Mbaye Jeng, executive member of the group, said his group has embarked on so many projects in terms of youth development, community stand and others, adding that the association has been contributing immensely in social development of this country since its inception in 2007, basically in Fajikunda end.
