The Minister of Tourism and Culture Hamat NK Bah has refuted the alleged accusation that he and other state Ministers used public funds to build compounds in Senegal, as he had got his own home in Dakar back in 2003.
The senior government officials including the Minister of Tourism and Culture was been accused of using taxpayers’ money to purchased homes in Dakar, Senegal.
The tourism and culture’s Minister in an interview with an online TV station FatuNetwork, over the week said the accusation levied on him that siphoned public funds to buy houses in the neighboring country, Senegal is not true and it is baseless.
“I have my own compound in Dakar since 2003 so the allegations against me are all false. I have been staying in a storey building before I even became a State Minister. People do not know me but as far you are in the public office you must expect to be accused unnecessarily by others,” he stated.
He said the sector has experienced a job lost of over two thousand since the outbreak of CCOVID-19 pandemic. The Ministry is working on plans to come up with packages in order to help those affected by the pandemic in the tourism sector.
“Very soon the Ministry of Tourism and Culture will make an announcement to assist citizens, in the tourism sector, affected by coronavirus pandemic. I cannot say when the announcement will be made but I am very much sure that these people will receive assistance from the Ministry,” he assured.
