Baddibu villages pleased with Covid-19 food aid distribution

Villages in Baddibu have expressed satisfaction over the recent food aid distribution amid the coronavirus pandemic State of Public Emergency declaration.

The beneficiary villages include Nawleru, Chamen and Njonen. The village heads extended their gratitudes to The Gambia government for the support.

The Governor North Bank Region Ebrima KS Dampha commended the communities for their support and cooperation towards smooth distribution of the food aid and called on people to be vigilant to protect the communities.

He reiterated the importance President Adama Barrow and his government attaches to the welfare of people at this trying moment.

He said every household was catered for and families who were not captured during registration can liaise with the alkalo and district chief for prompt action. The food Aid is not distributed on party line, tribal and religion.

He expatiated on the need for cooperation with distribution teams, noting that all complaints should be channelled through complaint desk for redress, while encouraged all household head to present their coupons at various distribution centres.

He disclosed that complaint desks are created to help provide opportunity for families that were left out during registration with the ultimate aim of ensuring every households benefit from government COVID-19 food Aid.

Honorable Sulayman Saho, member of the National Assembly’s Select Committee on health, said the support would complement household food security. He hailed Governor Ebrima KS Dampha and chief Alagie Jagne for closely monitoring the ongoing food distribution.

Chief Alagie Jagne of Central Badibou commended government under President Adama Barrow for the historic distribution of food Aid to every household. He encuraged people to be proactive and uphold to WHO and Ministry of health guidelines, saying hygienic and social distancing practices would help to control the spread of the virus.

Lamin Saidy Regional Disaster Management Coordinator said distribution teams will work closely with alkalolu and VDCs to ensure smooth distribution.

Sheriff Mboge NYC and Ousman C Jallow Regional Branch Officer called on everyone to be vigilant and adopt precautionary measure that would help to control the spread.

Alkalo of Salikene Junkung Dibba described 2020 COVID-19 food distribution by the government of President Adama Barrow as right move and timely to assist families and enable them to stay at home as requested by Ministry of health and WHO, as parts of measure to control the spread of virus.
