Alhagie Jobe, the self-proclaimed Alkalo of Medina Nemasu is remanded at the State Central Prison today June 2, 2020, pending the completion of investigations by the police.
Jobe was accused of chopping the hand of one Momodou Kandeh, as he appeared before Her Worship Magistrate Penda Sowe of the Brikama Magistrate Court where he pleaded not guilty to charges brought against him by the Inspector General of Police.
He was earlier charged for assault causing grievous body harm contrary to Section 214 of the Criminal Code Cap 10:01 Vol 111 revised laws of The Gambia 2009.
According to the particulars of offence, Alagie Jobe on or about the 1 day of June 2020 at Farato Village in the West Coast Region in the Republic of The Gambia unlawfully assaulted one Momodou Kanteh by chopping him with a Cutlass on his right hand causing him injuries thereby committed an offence

Inspector Kemo Y Manneh representing the IGP objected to the bail of the accused on the basis that the victim is currently admitted at the RVTH and the police are on investigation.
The court granted the bail application of the prosecution and hence remanded the accused at the Mile 2 Central Prison.
Magistrate Penda Sowe subsequently adjourned the case to the 11th June, 2020 for continuation of hearing.
However, it could be recalled that the land dispute between Medina Nemasu and Farato Villages respectively has been prostrating for more than ten years without abetting culminating into series of assault cases and demolition exercises.
