MA Foundation for women in partnership with Community Child Protection Committee in Farafenni has distributed food aid to 10 Koranic schools to help curb spread of coronavirus.
The distributed food includes 50 bags of 25 kilos rice, 100 mattresses and 25 bags of 50 kilos sugar and 10 darras in Farafenni.
Speaking at presentation ceremony Fatoumata Jawara, founder of Ma Foundation for Women said: “supporting the ‘Talibeh’ in this difficult moment, would obviously contribute to make a difference on the lives of people.”
She challenged head of daras to ensure the donated materials reach the most vulnerable children.
Governor Ebrima KS Dampha hailed Ma Foundation for Women for extending her support to talibeh, noting that it would enhance learning of quranic.
He said the donation of food and mattresses would contribute and improve the health and wellbeing of student. Governor Dampha uses the moment to call on others to follow suits in making a change on the lives of people.
Alh. Sambujang Jagne chairman of Community Child Protection Committee said the 18 members including students were set up to promote the welfare of children.
The committee promote and value the health of children. Alasan Sanneh Senior Social Welfare Officer lauded the efforts of CCPC in Farafenni in promoting the welfare of children. The committee carry out radio talk showd to raise public awareness on right of children.
Don William Secretary of CCPC noted that the support would make significant impact on the children. He noted since the establishment of CCPC in 2014, this the first ever support support from donors.
Amadou Jallow COOPI International the brainchild of fundraiser using the social media, said protection of children call for collective and concerted efforts.
He called on humanitarian organisations to support CCPC to enhance humanitarian assistance.
Abdoukadri Fofana Deputy Imam of Farafenni said the support is in line with the teaching of Islam. He noted that Islam strongly advocate to assist humanity, with the ultimate aim to ease learning and teaching.
Alpha Mamudou Jallow on behalf of the beneficiaries thanks the donor and CCPC for the foresight and noted teaching children on religion is part of building children to know their rights and by extension inculcate good morale value.
He called on philanthropist and individuals to support daras with food, clothes and learning materials to help improve the health and wellbeing of children.
