‘We can’t wait for Court’s verdict for lawmakers to return the lands’

The residents of New Yundum through their village development committee (VDC) have declared that they cannot wait for Court’s verdict for the alleged lawmakers to return lands giving to them.

The alleged lawmakers were quoted by Standard newspaper in one of its last week’s publications that “they are ready to return the lands if any court decision requires them to do,” so.

But Alagieh Ceesay, chairman of New Yundum village development committee insisted that they will no longer wait for any Court’s verdict for the lawmakers to return the allocated plots of lands.

“I was surprised of what I heard over the news that the alleged lawmakers said they are willing to return the lands if any court decision mandated them to return them back to the community.

Look, what I want to make clear is that we are not going to wait for any alleged National Assembly Member allocated with a plot of land to return it after any court decision,” he expressed exasperatedly.

He however noted that residents will not wait for them to personally return the lands after any court judgment, as “we will immediately take them away from them after any court judgment.”

He disclosed that the whole community is ready for any legal action in any Court of law while he called on any National Assembly Members currently investing on the allocated lands to take their time because “everything invested on such lands will be owned by the community after any court ruling in our favor.”

The VDC Chairman expressed his dismay over the National Assembly Members for not debate on the allocation of the lands to them before accepting it “they should avoid being lawlessness.”
