The National Human Right Commission has condemned US police brutality after the death of US-based Gambian Modou Lamin Sise and black American Gorge Floyd.
Speaking in an interview, Emmanuel Joof Chairperson of NHRC said “we condemn all kind of violent especially violent where you target a particle race and everyone know is common in America and we condemn it.”
According to him, he is content that the Minister of Foreign Affairs also taken up the matter at the level of the Embassy, and they have come with strong statement, urging the authority in American to make sure that justice is done. The human rights commission in collaboration with other Human Rights institutions has been networking,” he said.
He expressed that you cannot have a society where racism is pandemic, and this is something that has gone on for many years. The Human Rights Commission, he said, stands firm always, as he could recall the moment a Gambian was assaulted in China, and they made a strong statement through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to actually find out what happened.
