Gambia’s registers four new cases of Covid-19

 

The ministry of health has on Monday said the country registered four new cases of coronavirus and one of the cases is from Lower River Region, bringing the total cases to 41.

“4 new laboratories confirmed cases of COVID-19 registered, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 41, one of the new cases is Lower River Region’s first confirmed COVID-19 case.”

“All but 5 of the 62 laboratory test results received returned negative for COVID-19 While 4 of the tests came out positive, 1 returned inconclusive (Probable case),” the ministry of health said.

The ministry however said: “2 new recoveries confirmed, after both cases 025 & 027 produced 2 consecutive negative test results, bringing the number of active cases in the country to 13.”

“While 24 persons were newly taken into quarantine, 6 new people were discharged after testing negative for COVID-19 upon completion of the mandatory quarantine period of Most of the newly quarantined were picked from different locations after it was learnt that they have a recent travel history to a country with ongoing community transmission o They also include 16 health worker contacts of the recently deceased case (case 037).”

The country currently has 268 persons under quarantine; 13 active cases and 3 probable cases.
