Martina’s Foundation has donated medical equipment including beds, mattresses, cartons of dressing materials, thermometers, clothing and bed sheets to Brikama Hospital with the presentation of items to maternity and outpatient units of the hospital.
Speaking during the presentation, Mariama Baldeh expressed delight on the donated items.
She was later taken on a conducted tour of the facility where some concerns including lacks of oxygen machines and stablilizing machine for their asthmatic patients, cupboards, lockers, tables and Chairs were raised.
According to her at the newly renovated maternity wards, she said they discovered that there are beds but no mattresses and additional scanning machines to this end. She their promised the foundation would do its utmost to address some of the constraints.
“This is a government facility and most of the services are free for patients we must therefore look back to both private and public institutions to see how best they could render assistance because the hospital is for all Gambians,” she added.
Lamin Sanyang, nurse in charge of Brikama district hospital commended the foundation for its magnanimity gesture, describing it as timely.
He disclosed that they just renovated their maternity wards where they will install some of the mattresses.
He expressed their pleasure over the donation which he said they really appreciated cherished while he thanked the efforts of the foundation.
