Kabafita LBS gets D400,000 borehole

Rotary Club of Brusubi has inaugurated a new borehole built for Kabafita Lower Basic School, West Coast Region. The borehole aimed to help provide sufficient drinking water for the school was constructed in the amount of D400,000.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Yahya Jatta, deputy headmaster at Kabafita LBS expressed gratitude on the benefactors for the generosity and described the gesture as significant and timely.

He assured the benefactor of making good use of it. He disclosed that Kabafita LBS has 3,225 students and about 120 staff. This population needs water and it will be risky to have such a number of people without water.”

“It has given us so many sleepless nights to get a lasting solution for this water crisis.  We knocked doors of many donors before the Rotarians assist us,” he said.

Also speaking at the inauguration was former president of the club, Sanna Jaiteh, he said the primary aim of the network is to promote humanitarian services to the neediest as well as uphold high ethical standard in all aspect in the quest to advance human benevolent worldwide”

Mr Jaiteh said the 6000 litres borehole means to serve 3225 students in the school and rescue them from water scarcity.

He therefore urged beneficiaries to utilise the borehole while expressed optimistic that the school management will preserve the facility.

Aki Ladi Allen, former district governor of Rotary 9101 said: “Rotary club had a long-standing relationship with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MBOSE).”

According to him, the Rotarians have distributed books, well equipped science and computer laboratories to the Ministry for students to use.
