Mile II ‘chief torturer’ accused of torturing prisoners

Ebrima Jammeh, AKA Mile II ‘chief torturer’ has again accused of leading a team of prison warders to torturing prison inmates.

Jammeh’s Head of Operation at Mile II has been accused by several prisoners of torture, but he confessed to the probe of torturing only two prisoners.

Testifying before the truth-telling commission on Wednesday, Abdou Anabi Jammeh – a prison warden dismissed Ebrima Jammeh’s claim and said: “everything was started by Ebrima Jammeh then Sanna Kujabi would come.”
He said a prison inmates – Omar Jammeh and seven others were mercilessly beaten up by a team led by Ebrima Jammeh.

According to him each of the inmate was given nearly 50 strokes saying: “they were beaten mercilessly before they were interrogated and Omar was beaten about four times in my presence.”

He disclosed further that they beat him repeatedly for sometimes bringing him up and down. The witness said all these beaten it is Ebrima Jammeh that always used to be the first person to start beating him.

He revealed that when Lamin Jah was placed on table it is the same Ebrima Jammeh that started the beating while his subordinates followed.
He described Ebrima Jammeh as a bad person who deserves a bad character.
He however told the commission that the former prison chief David Colley is not from Kanilai.

“David is not from Kanilai. He is not from Kanilai,” Mr Jammeh told the commission.

However, David Colley is yet to respond to allegations levelled against him by various witnesses that appeared before TRRC.
