Gambia Family Planning Association (GFA) organised ‘All Girls Day’ which aimed to protect sexual and reproductive health held under the banner “Safe Spaces for Girls.”
Speaking in Njaba Kunda, Momodou Njie, GFPA’s program manager emphasized the importance of building the capacity of youths on adolescent and reproductive health to enhance development and wellbeing.
He said providing Access, Adolescents, HIV/AIDS and Advocacy is keys in harnessing information on sexual and reproductive health SRH as it is strongly influenced by social, cultural, political and economic factors and inequalities.
He called for more community mobilization to foster intergenerational communication in support of Adolescents Sexual and Reproductive Health.
Ebrima KS Dampha, governor of NBR stressed government commitment to the protection of girls from harmful practices through awareness creation on sexual and reproductive health.
He commended GFPA for complementing government efforts, noting that girls need protection from parents and also reiterated the need for proper coaching and monitoring to enable the realization of the potential in their educational pursuits.
Chief of Central Baddibu, Alagie Jagne commended GFPA and partners for their support to health of women and girls and assured the district authorities support to protection and empowerment of girls from abuse.
Musa Jaiteh of Njaba Kunda Minor Health Centre stressed the need for prevention of COVID19 and call on people to stay healthy.
Safie Jallow said the program will help create awareness among girls, on marriage, right to sexual and reproductive health.
