Doudou Jah: ‘Baa is One of Gambia’s Worst Attorney Generals’

Opposition, APRC’s deputy spokesman, Doudou Jah, has labelled Abubacarr Tambadou as one of the Gambia’s worst Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

Mr Jah told a local radio station that “even if he (Baa) is to resign as Justice, he should have left his position for another person and serves as deputy to the Ministry because we quite know that he has little knowledge to complete what he has already started. I can say he is one of the worst Attorney general and minister of justice.”

His comments come days after Mr Tambadou resigned from his ministerial position, AG Justice, as he picked up a UN job in Hague.

“I am totally in denial of what people were saying that APRC, as a party was campaigning for the Minister of Justice to be sacked. I can tell you that the only thing we were interested in as APRC members is that the former Minister of Justice to tender his own resignation before he is sacked. We knew very well as a party that it is just a matter of time for him to leave the position as justice minister either by him resigning or be sacked because of the several legal irregularities he has done,” he lamented.

He went further in his comment that “we have seen what happened to some of the legal cases he has taken against the APRC party such as the Janneh Commission which activities of selling former President Jammeh’s assets were rejected by the High Court. So, we know it is just a matter of time for him to resign but his resignation has never taken us by a surprise,” Jah added.

He said Baa should have not leave his position for an outside functions. He added that he should have first requested for his ministerial position as the justice be taken by another person and serve as the deputy in order to continue on commissions and alleges he is accused of against the APRC party.
