LITERARY COLUMN: POETRY

AFRICA INVEST

Fear not, invest heavily
For there will be no lost
They are the columns that can hold the continent
For capacity building is supreme in national development
You are bless with the best of resources
Both in human and in minerals
Establish and standardised teaching and learning institutions
Make it accessible to all
And make them read and understand
The western education,  technical education and vocational education
As well as the traditional and religious education
Only through this that you can be equipped
With the best of weapons against your rivals
Fuel the engine and propel it now
For a work for the future should begin today
To wake up and smile your bright teeth to the world
You must have your tooth past and brush
On duty every morning
Give them total comfort and attention
Thus, they will provide you a meaningful output
For he who have children
Surely,  can have wealth

 MR. EXTREMIST

It is not a platform for conflicts
And a doctrine of superiority
Not a backing tool for terrorism
And a medium for theft and self - satisfying pleasures
Neither advise no do it command inhuman practises
For he who take life
Shall have no intercessor in the day of resurrection

What is your inspiration and who is your mentor
Go back and read the scripts of your creed
Put down your arsenal and persuade the masses
For the most of disciples you want to follow your sect
Spill not the blood of the innocent
Faith teaches tolerance and harmonious coexistence

The supreme slumbers not
Abstain yourself from self - sinning endeavours
To live a devote life
So as to please your master
To access you a share of his treasures
Here and hereafter
The revelational Messiahs left not swords
But holy books as guiding principles for the whole mankind

THE BROKEN HOPE

At six he was sent to school
In abundance
He was loved and cared
His needs
Were supplied in triplet
His academic performance
Were very  impressive
And his parents
Were proud
"My little son
Is the boss
In the town's elementary institution
I am optimistic that
He will someday
Revolutionise our community "

Now in the upper grade
Creeping into bad company
And finally consumed totally
The beaches, cannabis and the beers
Becomes his allies

His lips began darkening
Eyes reddening
And academic performance dropping
Crime rates heightening
Punctuality rapidly denimishing
Discipline declining

Teachers and pupils wandering
And  among themselves questioning
What is going wrong?
This boy is changing
He is quickly yellowing

"My son
I can't comprehend
He is like a goat
In a heat period
Completely unrest
Now his assignment records
He don't present
His school bag
I rarely see with him
Let alone a book in his hand
Something most befall him"

"Papa!
School I am out
I want to make money
School is delaying my time
I want to go to babylon"

And now self - independent
No babylon
Neither London
Living a life
Of too much loan.

AFRICAN CHILD

Your grand parents
Had told you;
Your parents
Had told you;
Your Brothers and Sisters
Had told you,
And even your rivals
Had told you -
The same stories,
Everytime,
All the time,
Yet, you are
Searching for a full moon
In the sky.

When just a few Caucasians came,
First, in the name of trade:
Goods, then humans!
Then colonialism,
And now, neo-colonialism.
Still you cannot remove
Your neck in their ring!

Now, the round head,
Flat face and small eyes-
Innumerable living beings,
Are signing and shining:
Possessing and positioning
In the name of investment
And infrastructural contracts.

They have grew
So much feathers
That they called you
An emigrant, in your house,
And now they have began enslaving you
In your office.

African  child,

Watch out!
The far Eastern Man
Have just started
But an incomplete
Mission in your land.
Stand up!
Put on your shirt and trousers,
Buckle your belt,
And fight for your tomorrow.

This man, whose eyes are
Like someone peeping through
A tiny hole -
Is seeing far away.
Arrest his grants, aids, and loans
To halt his progress!
And douse his glowing inferno
In your fertile forest,
Else, he will ash
Your trees and grasses to their roots
And also kill your micro-organisms.
Thus, landing you in everlasting destitute!
