Ombudsman committed to provide comfortable working environment for workers

Ombudsman Bakary Sanyang has assured his office commitment to provide a comfortable working environment for workers in the country.

Mr Sanyang made the assurance during his visit to the Governor’s office in Kerewan North Bank Region last week. The visit was meant to gather first hand information on the condition of staffs in the region while also had meeting with the Governor.

He said the government is committed to good governance and have respect for the rule of law. He added that the new dispensation has provided opportunity for public servants and employers to log any relevant complaints.

The Ombudsman boss stressed on the need and importance his officers attaches to raise more public awareness on the roles and functions, while noted his office plans to open regional office in Janjangbureh to help public servants to have access to services that will enhance good relationships between employees and employers.

NBR governor, Ebrima KS Dampha, commended Ombudsman office for the familiarization tour noting that the tour would help to know the working condition of their office and their relationship with public servants.

Juma Camara, communication director at the Ombudsman office said the visit is not for witch-hunting, but to ensure fair treatment of employees in accordance with civil service regulations.

“The office is there for both employers and employees to ensure both parties adhere to code of conduct in execution of their functions,” he noted.

He therefore hailed the cordial relationships between office of Ombudsman and public servants, in providing space for workers and employers to log a complaint for redress.
