Trust Bank Gambia Limited on Tuesday donated 240 Dettol Liquid soap bottles to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education at a ceremony held at the ministry’s head office in Banjul.
Speaking at the ceremony, the managing director Trust Bank Limited, Mr. Ibrahima Salla said his Bank is a key partner in the Covid-19 response in The Gambia.
“Coronavirus is still with us but we have no doubt that the best interest of every child was taken on board by the ministry for the reopening of grade 9 classes and we recognized that it is a delicate decision which calls for concerted efforts to make it a success,” Mr. Salla said.
According to Mr. Salla, Covid-19 pandemic poses daunting challenges to Government and families across the country, adding that currently the virus is affecting all sectors, turned the lives of children and their education.
As a proudly Gambians Bank he added, the Bank cannot be indifferent to the plight of our children who are the future leaders of our country. He noted his Bank’s quick response to the MoBSE request for support to students, teachers and families on fight against Covid-19.
He stated that the protection of children and educational facilities is particularly important to his institution thus to prevent the spread of Covid-19 within the schools. The items donated will help to ensure that schools continue to be reopen uninterruptedly unlike other parts of the world.
“We are proud to have the privilege to donate these items and I would also like to assured you all of our continue support to the sector in future,” Mr. Salla ended.
For her part, Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Claudiana A. Cole said the donation will go towards supplementing the efforts of her ministry and its partners.
Minister Cole in her own words said: “I am really happy with the fruitful relationship between my ministry and Trust Bank Gambia Ltd”.
“It is a pleasure to have these valuable items in our schools. We need them in order for us to have safe school environment for our students, teachers and school authorities in general,” Madam Cole informed Trust Bank officials.
Minister Cole reminded Trust Bank officials that this was not the first time they were offering help to her ministry. We are appreciative of your efforts and on behalf of the MoBSE family we are saying thank you.
These items will be put into better use and we will forward them to the current grade 9 students who are in their classes and other classes coming ahead. As you know grade 9 students are always your babies.
