At last, Kerr Sidiki village in the Upper Niumi district, NBR finally received government’s Covid-19 food aid package after several complaints by the villagers.
It could be recalled that the villagers, few weeks back, complaint that they didn’t receive shares of their own government’s food aid package which was meant to help vulnerable families amid the outbreak of the coronavirus disease.
But the distribution attracted series of backlash as a number of people complained of not receiving the aid and accused the distribution process of ‘biases, the distributors however denied any biasness in the process.
Speaking to The Voice, Musa Sonko, chairperson for the village’s development committee, confirmed they have received the food aid.
He expressed gratitude to government for taking the food stuffs to their doorstep as well commended the media for playing its part on nation building and following-up of the distribution.
Lamin Saidy, National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) coordinator for the NBR also confirmed that the food stuff has been delivered to the distribution center and shared to the Kerr Sidiki residents accordingly.
He commended the villagers for informing the public that they were not given their share of government food aid.
