A four days community radio reporting skills and management training for reporters and managers from Kerewan and Jarra Soma community radio stations with the theme “Reaching Communities through the radios” underway in Farafenni .
The training is organise IMVF TEKKI FII EU project in partnership with Agency for the Development of Women and Children (ADWAC) as implementing partner
The training is part of the project support for five community radio stations to enhance social cohesion and sustainable livelihood.
However, IMVF TEKKI FII project will also provide latest equipment’s to all the five radio to improve service delivery performance and communication to facilitate proper administrative procedures and guidelines and uphold standard radio operation.
Training topics cover includes; introduction to broadcasting, news and news values, interviews technique, producing a radio report, interviews members of community on migration issues, producing a news report, role and functions of radio committee, designing a radio program, organisational administration, management and leadership techniques, financial management, records keeping
According to organisers, ADWAC recognizes the vast contribution community radios play in national development by dissemination of information on irregular migration.
Mamsamba Joof, executive director ADWAC acknowledged the roles community radios play in informing and educating grassroots on national development and sustainable livelihood development.
