Hundreds of people have undergone voluntary coronavirus testing on Monday at Ndemban Clinic, Bakau to ascertain their health position as coronavirus cases gradually increases in the country.
The spike in the number of coronavirus is becoming more concern as the country has recorded more than two-hundred cases, six death since it emerged in the country in March.
A man who went for the voluntary test on Monday told The Voice “I went to test myself because I was with one of the people who tested positive just recently. I came little bit contact with him that’s why I went to them to test me of the disease.”
He said the process is slow because there are only three health workers assigned to conduct the testing on the mass of people that visited the clinic for the test.
He explained the process that “One is doing the recording; one is doing the testing and the other one is doing another official duty which is making the process very slow. I heard from one person on the testing spot saying ‘many health workers are infected by the disease that’s why they have few health officials doing the testing.”
But the man spent almost three hours waiting to be tested.
“I waited for more than 2 hours because there are many people on the queue and only three health officials are on ground testing people. We were taken from Ndemban Clinic in Bakau to Taban Clinic in Kololi while some were brought back again.
“I heard a health official saying close the door and tell anyone who come to go until tomorrow,” he added.
He therefore urged people to go for the testing to know their Covid-19 status “because you might not know with whom you have come in contact with.”
