The Independent Electoral Commission has said its chairman Alieu Momar Njie is alive and well-as the Commission dismissed reports making rounds that Chairman Njie is dead.
The statement came hours after reports emerged that Mr Njie is dead. But his family and office however dismissed the report as ‘false’ and demanded an apology from media houses that reported the story.
In a statement issued by the Commission on Tuesday, said: “The Commission wishes to emphatically state that its chairman is fully alive, well and still at the helm of affairs at the IEC,” Election House said in a statement as it also said it got reports of the octogenarian’s death with ‘utter’ shock and dismay.
