Gambia registers fresh 136 coronavirus cases

The Ministry of Health has announced one hundred and thirty-six (136) fresh cases of coronavirus been registered in a single day taking the country’s virus cases to 935.

The Ministry added that 30 percent of the cases are health workers from Bundung Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Kanifing General Hospital.

“136 new cases registered –the highest reported in a single day thus far – taking the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 935. About 30 percent of the new cases are health workers mainly from Bundung Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Kanifing General Hospital,” the Health Ministry disclosed in a statement.

The statement added that “Unlike the previous sets of cases reported at the beginning, over 50 percent of the new cases are symptomatic 21 new recoveries recorded bringing the total number of recoveries to 129 (13.8% of cases) 375 new laboratory test results received (142 from MRCG and 233 from NPHL).”
