VP Touray denied me from completing my education- Fatou Bojang

Fatou Bojang, a sacked field coordinator of women organization called Gambia Committee on Traditional Practices (Gamcotrap) has revealed that the Gambian Vice President who is also founder of Gamcotrap, Dr. Isatou Touray denied her from completing her education at Management Development Institution (MDI) to enable her concentrate at office.

“I was doing my post graduate course in gender and development studies. I paid tuition fees, but I was asked by Dr. Touray to discontinued my study and concentrate on my work at Gamcotrap,” Bojang told The Voice.

Fatou Bojang and her colleagues walked into the office of The Voice over the weekend to express their disappointment over a woman Gambians considered her work for the promotion and protection of Gambian women.

Commenting on the on-going issue of the Save the Children International in Dakar, Senegal and Gamcotrap, she said that payment of staffs for the project is not fair according to the job.

Giving a breakdown of the salary payment of the managers she disclosed that “Per month, the Executive Director, Princess A. Munahot is receiving  GMD 92,725.00, the project assistant – GMD 35,775.00, Youth and Child Rights  Envoy – GMD 35,775.00, Accountant – GMD 20,025.00, Meal Officer GMD 20,000.00 Media Officer – GMD 15,000.00, Field Coordinator GMD12,500.00, Field Officer GMD 10,000.00, Senior Driver GDM10,000.00 and Community Based Facilitators from the four districts (4CBFs) – GMD7,500 each.

“If you are a development worker and looking at this salary you need to ask yourself if the salary is balance. The project is Save The Children SIDA-CSO funded project 2020 between Save The Children International, Dakar office and Gamcotrap as implementing partner,” she revealed.
