NBR: Dampha hands governorship role to deputy

The outgoing Governor of North Bank Region (NBR), Ebrima Dampha has handed over his official duty to his deputy, Musa Kanteh after four years of service.

Mr Dampha took the region’s governorship role in 2017 after the long-time leader Yahya Jammeh was swept out of power in a dramatic fashion.

Local authorities including women leaders in the region praised outgoing Governor Dampha for diligently service in the region. They praised him for bringing development and strengthening peace in the region.

Speaking to The Voice in Kerewan, Mr Dampha commended President Adama Barrow and his government for the trust and confidence bestowed in him to implement government policies and programs in the region.

“Over the years my office has worked hard to promote reconciliation, addressed conflicts between families and communities, promoted government zero tolerance to tribalism by embracing President Adama Barrow’s slogan of One Gambia, One People and One Nation,” he said.

He also commended the security chiefs for the support and cooperation accorded him during his four years of governorship in the region. He further commended them over the across border security agreement with the Senegalese authority along the border line to halt armed robbery, and assured his support to President Adama Barrow and government.

Momodou Chatty Cham, chief of Upper Nuimi, and chief of Upper Badibou, Ebrima Ansu Tamba Jammeh as well as Chief Alagie Jagne of Central Badibou, all commended former Governor Dampha’s commitment in bringing development into the region

Alkalo of Kerewan, Ousman Fatty described Dampha’s leadership has unique, saying it brought development projects and people together.

He thanked President Barrow for providing much development to Governor’s office in Kerewan and assured the government people’s support and loyalty to the government all time.

Aja Gass Lowe, Women Bureau Focal Person in Kerr Jarga Jobe said former Governor Dampha has supported women in all sphere of development and ensured that women participate in all decision-making process to bring about meaningful development and peace.
