Principals of senior secondary schools in Regions 2 and 3 expressed optimistic that anytime West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) results are out their students will come-out with good results.
The school Principals made this remarks on Monday during the visit to some senior secondary schools in Region two and three by the DPS Jerre Sanyang and Principal Secretary, Modou Bah from the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE).
The top officials embarked the school visit so that they can see for themselves the sitting arrangement of grade 12 students, how the first day of the examinations Is going on.
To find out whether all grade 12 students got calculators given to them by the ministry, to observe Covid-19 measures in schools among others.
At Jersey Technical senior secondary school in Sohm village, Vice Principal of the school, Nicholas B. Mendy expressed his delight that his students will do good in the exams.
“Because of Covid-19 pandemic we created two examination classes all gear towards fighting the global Coronavirus pandemic,” Mr. Mendy stated.
Principal, St. Vianney senior secondary school in Bullock, Nicholas Jatta said his students are well prepared for the long awaited exams. “Am optimistic that my students will do well in the exams.
Principal, Tahir Ahmadiyya Muslim senior secondary school in Mansakonko, Abubacarr Nyabally said he is optimistic that his students will come out with good results. “We prepared our students well for the exams. Kudos to the Regional Education Directorates in Region 3 and team and the ministry for their support to my school during this trying time of covid-19,” Nyabally said.
Mayork senior school Principal, Hamidou Jarjue said: “This is an opportunity for grade 12 students because by the time of the first wave of the covid-19, senior schools completed their syllabus”.
“During the closured of the schools what the students should do is to study hard because they were staying at home, so it should be seen as a normal exam as it used to be before the spread of the pandemic,” he explained.
Principal Somita senior Koyo Kandeh, Vice Principal Sibanor senior Lamin Dampha and Yaya Jallow school internal supervisor Fatima senior all spoke-out with confidence that their students will do good in the exams.
Similar school visit was conducted on Monday by MoBSE PS, Louis Moses Mendy and Essa Marong Principal Secretary to almost to the senior secondary schools in Region (1).
