Two coronaviruses patients die in treatment

Three people of whom two were coronavirus patients under treatment have died taking the total number of coronavirus deaths in the country to 87 since the emergence of the virus in March 2020.

The ministry of health said the three deaths included two males and one female of whom were among 12 samples collected in posthumous over the past days and the median ages rage from 37 to 93.

“3 new COVID-19 related deaths recorded, bringing the total number of deaths to 87 – a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.2%.

“While 2 of the new deceased cases were COVID-19 patients at a treatment centre, one tested positive when his sample was collected posthumously Out of a total of 12 posthumous sample results received, only 1 returned positive for COVID-19. The median age, at death, of the deceased cases (2 males and 1 female) is 89 years (range: 37 to 93 years),” the ministry of health said.

Meanwhile, the ministry of health data has shown that at least 2,685 people have contracted coronavirus from March to date.

One hundred and forty-eight people were newly tested positive for the virus, the ministry’s report has shown on Sunday.

“148 new cases registered, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 2,685. This represents a 31% test positivity rate (148 out of 483 total tests performed). The median age of the new cases is 37 years (range: 6 to 104 years),” the ministry of health said.
