Gambia Democratic Congress youth leader has emerged first political figure to welcome the Senegalese delegation in Gambia to help fight the coronavirus.
Speaking to The Voice in an exclusive Momodou MC Cham Jnr said: “It’s a good move and we need to encourage them. The pandemic is a global problem and it needs a collective effort to defeat it.”
“We have seen countries like Russia sent medical doctors some months ago to Italy to help them tackle the pandemic,” he added.
A delegation of Senegalese health professionals arrived in The Gambia on Saturday following President Adama Barrow’s call for help from President Macky Sall to help fight coronavirus pandemic in the Gambia.
At least 2,686 people in The Gambia are known to have contracted the virus since its emergency in March, 2020, and killed 90 people.
