The Action Against Hunger and Njawara Agricultural Training Centre recently held a meeting to discuss its implementing three years project called Shaping a Sustainable Future through Joint Action, a green economy for North Bank Region.
The project funded by European Union targets 11 communities including schools will be implemented in Jokadou, Lower, Central and Upper Badibou District in North Bank Region.
The meeting held at Njawara Agricultural Training Centre in NBR aimed at establishing a multi stakeholder platform, which includes farmer based organizations, physically challenges body, marketing federation and technical advisory committee. It was attended by different stakeholders.
Also target, are the hotspot areas where effects of climate change have been manifested by frequent incidence of climate related hazards and has negative effects on farming, women and youths.
Mama Manneh, Executive Director of Njawara Agricultural Training Centre said members of the Technical Advisory Committee Agriculture and Natural Resource ANR subcommittee are crucial in promoting stakeholders participation in the restoration of forest cover, mitigate effects of climate change and improve livelihood development.
The Director called on stakeholders to support each other and put aside competition to help them attain food security and environmental protection.
Salieu Samba Project Manager of NATC disclosed that the three years was funded by EU to help address hunger with a funding envelope of D7, 729,592 and will be implemented in Jokadou, Lower and Central Badibous.
He added that the targeting population is 110, 084, women and youths.
Aziz Saho a farmer from Pakau Njogu, Babucar Bajinka, Alasan Jawo Regional Youths Coordinator among lots of attendees made remarks at the meeting.
