Kambi Jassi Youths Association in partnership with the National Youths Council has over the weekend distributed 625 facemasks worth D30,000 in Kerewan, NBR, as part of efforts in containing coronavirus.
The youths Association also held radio talk show programmes at North Bank Community Radio in Kerewan to enlighten the public on the importance roles youths can play to ensure compliance on COVID-19 regulations and adherence to WHO and Ministry of health guidelines.
Speaking to The Voice in an interview, Musa Fatty, president of the association said the distribution was aimed at complementing government efforts in the fight against the global pandemic.
Mamadi Jawara, officer in charge of Kerewan Health Centre commended the association for the donation and noted the importance of it in term of protecting the health care worker.
Mr Jawara urged people to always continue respect and exercise WHO and ministries of health guidelines – regular handwashing, wearing of face masks and practice social distancing.
He said the “fight against the virus calls for concerted efforts of all to control the spread and also calls for voluntary testing.”
Fatoumata L Jarju, a Red Cross Volunteer reiterated the need for women to put on face masks, ensure regular hand washing and suspend social gathering to help contain the pandemic.
The youth’s association was established in February 2018 and has a membership of 50.
