Coronavirus deaths have risen to 99 after a man, 82, and a woman, 62, died of the virus.
The Ministry of Health said the deaths were receiving treatment at the treatment centres at the Medical Research Council in Bakau and Sanatorium in Banjul.
“2 new Covid-19 related deaths recorded, bringing the total number of deaths, to date, to 99 – a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.2%. Both deceased cases (a male and a female) were known Covid-19 cases admitted at the treatment facilities – one at MRC and the other at the Sanatorium.
Besides their advanced ages (82 and 62), both had a comorbidity 34 new cases registered, taking the total number of Covid-19 cases ever confirmed in the country to 3,101,” he said.
The Ministry added: “This represents a 21.9% test positivity rate (34 out of 155 total tests performed). The median age of the new cases is 33 years (range: 8 to 82 years). 155 new laboratory test results received from MRCG and NPHL of these, no new test returned indeterminant 8 new recoveries registered, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries, to date, to 1,275 (41.1% recovery rate). Whereas 3 new people were taken into quarantine, 4 new discharges were made. The country currently has 7 people in quarantine, 1,727 active cases, 307 probable cases and a crude case-fatality ratio of 3.2%.”
