Together Africa Gambia Organization, TAGO, in partnership with Young Africa Network for Global Goal (YANGG) are in preparation to embark on tree planting exercise, a part of international tree planting exercise.
The tree planting project as stated by the organization aims to provide 500 seedlings for each and seven administrative regions in the country. This will help in reforming the forests and promoting wildlife conservation in The Gambia.
Speaking at a press conference recently held, Lamin Jammeh chairperson of TAGO said: “the tree planting exerciser will provide 2000 seedlings for 7 regions as they aim to work towards the development of the country. Also to empower the young people of this country.”
The activity which he said will start on 21st October will last for two weeks. He said further the organization have more project on pipeline but this tree planting will determine if they will be able to get another project to the Gambia people.
Meanwhile, he commended Bala Charitable Organization, Environmental Concern for Kombo South, Ginkon Foundation Development, government and other stakeholders for making the project stand firm.
He quickly called on authorities to support them either in cash or kind.
Buba Bajo, representative of Ginkon Foundation, said: “Ginkon Foundation has been in development for years, and this is not the first time they are collaborating in such activities.”
