The Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) Monday, September 7, 2020 concluded distribution of audio-visual to regional authorities and community radios across the country.
The distribution team ended-up their exercise at the Kanifing Municipal and Banjul City Councils respectively where they presented the audio-visual (translated and recorded) format of the content of the 20 Chapters of the Draft Constitution into eight local languages.
The Draft Constitution is been translated into the following languages: Mandinka, Fula, Wollof, Jola, Manjago, Serere, Sarahule, Aku and Gambian Sign Language for the hard-of-hearing. There is also a Braille version of the Draft Constitution for the visually impaired.
The recipients of the audio-visual country-wide all hailed the promise fulfilled by the CRC to record the Draft Constitution into local languages.
Translation of the Draft Constitution is a fulfillment of the promise the CRC made to Gambians during the public consultations to have the Draft Constitution translated into the local languages to enhance citizens’ understanding and awareness of the content of the Draft Constitution.
