Collapsed Building in Banjul Leaves Three Injured

Three people are receiving treatment at the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital after they survived from a collapsed building incident over the weekend.

Eye witnesses said a mother and her two kids were all in the house when the building heavily collapsed as blocks, debris and mental scattered everywhere in the environment. Neighbours and passers-by rushed to the scene in efforts to rescue any potential survivor. Personnel of the Gambia Fire and Rescue Services also arrived at the scene at a very short notice.

The lady who got trapped in the debris was first rescued while the anxiety began growing from onlookers, the persistent efforts of the Fire and Rescue Services personnel paid off. They succeed to extract the two kids as they brought them from the wrecks to breathe fresh air. The three victims sustained injuries and were all evacuated to Edward Francis Small Teaching hospital in Banjul.

It comes as scores of Gambians calls for the government to rebuild Banjul – as a great number of buildings in the city are said to have been built since the pre-colonial era.
