Nominated National Assembly member, Majanko Samusa has angrily called for an inquiry into the Constitutional Review Commission over millions of dalasis spent on the contentious draft constitution.
A sum of one hundred and sixteen million dalasis has been spent on drafting the constitution which seeks to replace the 1997 constitution. But tens of thousands of Gambians have been divided over the constitution – and the most contentious provisions on the draft constitution include citizenship, presidential term limit and secularism.
But Majanko Samusa is now calling for a commission of inquiry to look into the Constitutional Review Commission saying “I think in my view there should be a commission of inquiry that should be set up to look into the CRC how and the way and manner the money given to them to facilitate this constitution,” was spent.
“Now we say we are going for two term limit but the way and manner they specified in this book is totally wrong! They have their own agenda.”
