ActionAid International – The Gambia Wednesday donated a cheque for D50,000 to the Gambia Red Cross Society.
Speaking during the presentation of the cheque, executive director for ActionAid International, Omar Badjie, expressed his delight over the donated cheque.
He said the relationship between the two organisations is a bond that will keep growing from strength to strength. He noted that they will work together in response to covid 19 and fire disasters,.
He emphasized that presenting the cheque to the Gambia Red Cross Society was indeed a blessing to them in appreciation of what they are doing in response to covid-19, which will go a long way.
According to him, the Red Cross Society is doing voluntary operation for the country and they are not expecting anything in return, thus, they are just helping the country.
He therefore challenged every stakeholder in The Gambia to come forward and support the Red Cross society.
Without the help of Red Cross Society, he said, there would have been a big problem especially that the pandemic cases are rising.
“We are not volunteering but combatant leaders who fight against the pandemic, we all know that the pandemic is not only a health problem, but is testing our resilience as a nation and be in the front line to it,” Omar Badjie, Executive Director of ActionAid International The Gambia disclosed.
The Secretary General of the Gambia Red Cross Society, Alasan Senghore disclosed that, Action Aid International has been helping them in terms of humanitarian in the development of the country.
