Qgroup Foundation Thursday presented cheque for D1 million (One Million Dalasi) to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) at a colorful ceremony held at the Ministry’s conference hall in Banjul.
The presented cheque according to Qgroup Foundation officials is to support the Ministry for the reopening of schools which have been shut down all academic institutions in the country for the past seven months as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak in the in March.
Prior receiving the cheque, the Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Honorable Claudiana A. Cole extolled Qgroup Foundation for responding to the Ministry’s appeal on time.
Minister Cole described the relationship between Qgroup and her Ministry ‘cordial’ while sent her profound gratitude to Qgroup Foundation and the entire staff at QCell for their quick intervention.
“Today you are answering to our call in support of the reopening of schools in a very special way, it is not surprising to my Ministry because our relationship has been a long standing one,” Minister Cole noted.
She added that Qgroup Foundation is complimenting the efforts of The government and support cannot go without noticed by the public.
For her part, the executive director of Qgroup Founation, Madam Isatou Jah informed education officials that Qgroup Foundation in 2018 signed MOU with MoBSE in order to establish fruitful relationship between the two institutions.
“Our relationship with MoBSE” madam Jah said “started during Spelling Bee Competition in 2010 where we provided D10 million to organize the Spelling Bee Competition.”
Madam Jah expressed her delight with the Ministry and its partners for announcing the reopening of all schools. According to Qgroup boss, her foundation wants to see safe reopening of schools this is why they came to the aid of MoBSE.
She explained to educationists that it is part of her foundation’s Corporate Social responsibility to contribute their part to education.
However, in return, the Minister of MoBSE presented resented certificate of appreciation to Qgroup Foundation for their continuous support to MoBSE.
