By Adama Makasuba

Girl pupils have topped 2020 Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE) as twenty-six of them scored aggregate 6 – leaving only 10 of their fellow boys scoring the same mark.

23,039 Candidates (twenty-three thousand and thirty-nine) sat to the examination. There was much uncertainty about the performance of the pupils who wrote their examination amid a spike in coronavirus pandemic – which closed down schools for months.

And eleventh schools within Region I scored numbers of aggregate 6 followed by Region II with two schools and Region III with one school.
