Tuesday’s downpour which ensued by flash flooding has left a teenage boy death and four of his fellows hospitalised, eyewitnesses said.
Eye witnesses said the boys were bathing around a bridge in the neighbourhood after the rains slighted, but added the boys got overpowered by the flooding during their bathing which resulted in the death of one of them– leaving others in critical condition.
“This happened around 8am to 9am. The boys were bathing in the water in the garden because some of them do go for fishing. But the flooding overpowered the boys and drowned them. The boy died before people arrived at the scene,” one of the eyewitnesses said.
“I blame some elders because I met them around the flooding trying to help the drowning boys, but some of them were not willing to get in the water,” said another eyewitness.
But Police spokesman Superintendent Lamin Njie confirmed: “the Police have no such report and such an incident.”
