Next week Saturday will witness the election of the new Village Development Committee (VDC) members from the said Central Committee. The said VDC if elected into office next week will steer the affairs of the village for the next four years to come.
Speaking to our reporter after the meeting, council of elder within the committee, Musa Sanyang said they only did the election but the positions were not given to any member due to the time limit.
“IGP gave us 10:00am to start the congress and 4:00pm to end, this was why we didn’t want to violate IGP stipulated time and also during next Saturday congress it is only the newly elected 25 Central Committee Members who will be eligible to partake in the election of the new VDC,” said Mr. Sanyang.
According to Musa Sanyang, next Saturday new VDC members will occupy positions through election that they (members) feel they can function well rather than imposing the member positon that he/she can’t function well.
He said Manduar community is fortune to have developments opportunities this is why they see it as a necessity to put in place mechanisms that would make the village not to lose those opportunities ahead.
Sanyang commended the youth of the community for their large turn-out to attend the congress and he equally call on the newly elected Central committee members to be at the meeting venue next Saturday on time.
“We did our congress as stipulated in the Local Government Act 2002 and during next Saturday election, Community Based Organization (CBOs) will be invited to witness the election,” Mr. Sanyang explained.
