Gambia Women Federation (GWF) on Thursday donated face Masks amounting to 10, 110 to the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (MoBSE) at a handing over ceremony held at the ministry’s main conference hall in Banjul.
In receiving the items from GWF members, Permanent Secretary (PS) at MoBSE, Louise Moses Mendy commended GWF members for being the first women organization so far coming to offer help to his sector.
“As a ministry we are grateful to what you had brought to us and it is a large quantity that will really reduce burden on us as far as Covid-19 PPE for schools are concern,” said PS Mendy.
He called on Gambians and non-Gambians alike to emulate the good deed of the GWF members. We will always remember your kind hearted generosity your organization offered to the sector.
PS Mendy informed GWF members about the encouraging results female students secured in 2020 GABECE which he said was something to be proud of.
Shortly before handing-over the items to MoBSE PS Mendy, the Head of the Tailoring Department under the federation, Madam Binta Jallow said the purpose of the donation is in support of safe reopening of schools.
“I am speaking on behalf of the President, Gambia Women Federation, Madam Ndey Awa Khan who love to be here but due to her busy schedule she can’t make it,” Madam Jallow informed MoBSE officials.
Offering help to the future leaders of this country Madam Jallow went on, meaning we want the country to produce responsible and concern leaders in generations to come.
In Madam Jallow’s own words said: As mothers, we felt it as a duty upon us to offer help to the future leaders of this country, this is why we are here to donates these face masks to MoBSE.
Ceremony was witnessed by GWF senior members. Ministry’s DPS Adama Jimba Jobe for Programs and DPS Jerre Sanyang for Administration and Finance both hailed GWF members for the gesture.
